Something to do with the drains, I gather. Does anyone know how long it's likely to go on? Confused

Dear Ms Hoey
Contact was made with Thames Water following our email exchange but there was, I am afraid, a further delay in receiving the detailed information, ie showing the position of the excavations and the traffic management, required about these works. However that was resolved and Thames Water were planning to commence on Monday (11 June) next week. Unfortunately Thames Water are currently dealing with a badly leaking water main at the junction of Kennington Park Road with Kennington Lane. I understand that the repair of the 12" main itself has now been completed but there is quite a lot of consequential damage to part of the road which needs excavating out and replacing as all part of the reinstating of the road. Thames Water have advised that they will be working on this over the weekend but it may not be completed until early next week, probably Tuesday. On this basis I have had to ask for the sewer repair works to be put back until Thursday next week to avoid a "clash". This does allow a day delay for anything else that may go wrong, hopefully it will not, in carrying out all the reinstating around the burst water main.

My apologies again to the residents as I appreciate how frustrating this must be to them. If there are further issues I will update you next week in case you get further calls from residents.
Bob

Dear Ms Hoey

Reference our telephone conversation. I have spoken to Paul Gunn at Thames Water and he has put me fully in the picture. They do need to drop a shaft between 2m and 4m deep to repair the collapsed sewer, between 309 and 313 Kennington Road, and this will take out one lane of traffic for about five days. I have agreed with Paul that we will sort this out as a matter of urgency. I have also given Paul my contact telephone number and I will be contacting him again on Tuesday to persue. It is now just a matter of sorting out how this can be done with minimum inconvenience to everyone. My apologies to the local residents and businesses for this delay. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Regards

Bob Bayley
